 Tabourie Museum

Tabourie Museum is housed in a small inconspiciuous building nestled on the Princes Highway at Tabourie Lake, 12km south of Ulladulla. The exhibits inside range from rocks, minerals, aboriginal artifacts, newspapers and farming equiptment to ladies lingerie.

The museum is now owned by the Shoalhaven City Council and is open each weekend and everyday during school holidays (10am-4pm) with a small entrance fee. The setting up of the museum has been the work of Mr Jack Nicholson over 23 years.

The Museum represents the collecting interests of Jack who opened the museum on its present site in 1965. The collection established by jack shows an informed and learned display of minerals, fossils, rocks, aboriginal artefacts, glass, farming and blacksmth implements. The mellshimer family has donated objects of thier past with collections dealing in clothing, schoolbooks, copy books, bible, photographs, certificates and furniture of a bygone era. So next time you are driving along the highway and have a couple of hours to spend, stop, and call in, show the children what it was like in great grandfathers day and catch up on a little history yourself.
